a rant on my birthday

Right folks, it’s time for a little rant methinks.

I really did have a good birthday with my family here in Scotland.
It is however shocking that NONE of my so-called family in Germany (and i am NOT talking about my biological family, Ilse Stein and Kathrin-Jennifer Stein), except for my father, have took the time to even say congratulations on my birthday. The same goes for a lot of my so-called friends IRL/FB.

That is why I have decided to proceed with the “Big Culling of Friends 2017” and effectively have removed E-V-E-R-Y-O-N-E that has not took the time to say even one or two words on this day.

Some might construe this as petty or even ‘nasty’ but here is the bottom-line. Why should I surround myself with people who have not even got the common decency to take 1 minute of their day for someone else?

If I have upset someone with my action(s), I can only say, “tough”.

I am DONE surrounding myself with people who cannot spare a minute for a ‘friend’ and/or ‘family-member’, I am trying very hard to improve my life and myself and this includes getting rid of emotional dead-weight and selfishness of other people.

If someone wants to comment or discuss this, that’s fine, I am always open to a constructive debate but I will not feed into other peoples selfishness.

Have a nice 1st of August and peace out

another day at the grindstone

Having started at 7:40 this morning and finally getting out of the office at 17:15 I have spent nearly 10 hours at work, trying to catch up with yesterdays massive work that piled up, because monday was bank holiday and so everyone logged cases yesterday.

Ah well at least I have managed to get my queues down to a manageable level. Anyways: I have also done some more work on my Redhat Course that I have signed up for, and my goal is to try and finish it by end July, beginning of August, even though my expected date of completion is more around the end of September.

The one thing I am struggling with at the moment is the decision, what direction to go next in my training. There is really two obvious choices here, a) keep in the linux track and try to certify myself as a Redhat technician, or b) go down the Microsoft route and try to attain a minimum of MCP (Microsoft Certified Professional) working my way up to the MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer) even though that is not really where I see myself in 5-10 years.

I’d rather actually concentrate on development, the likes of PHP/Python/Ruby because I strongly believe, that the future of computing is happening in the cloud and that obviously requires a good solid base for backends based on webservers, that are generating content for the average user to interact with. I have had quite some experience in developing for PHP which I really enjoyed, even though I am admittedly not a designer, meaning my graphic designs SUCK! No, really!

This shall be last of my rant for today, and I will publish some more thoughts during the next few days.

Peace out

The Kings new clothes…

since I started my new work with GFI (see my CV) I have been up to my eyeballs in training for this role.

As technical support rep, there’s bucketloads of knowledge to be crammed into ma poor wee brain 😉

Saying that, it is after all, what I do and enjoy.

But maybe in the future I might be able to keep this blog more updated, with at least photo’s from my weekends with the family 🙂

peace out
